A
gig
held at The Be-Bop Club
on Friday 15th November. The event starts at 20:30.
Gary Alesbrook is a superb trumpet player who can capture the breathy sound of players such as Chet Baker and Till Brönner, but also launches devastating rhythmic attacks on harder edged funk numbers. He has recorded albums in a wide range of styles and worked as a session musician for artists as varied as Raphael Saadiq, Kasabian, Rag N Bone Man and Scissor Sisters as well as performing on movie, TV and computer game soundtracks. Gary is back in the spotlight with the release of his second album “The Stories We Tell Ourselves,” released October 29th, 2019. The album consists of eleven original jazz pieces and features an exciting, diverse range of artists including two time Grammy nominated USA guitarist and vocalist, Raul Midón and rising star UK vocalist Elliott Cole [Lack Of Afro]. “The Stories We Tell Ourselves” is a collection of original songs that convey ideas of love, loss, relationships and identity. Stories reflecting on the past and recognising how our perceptions often change with insight and experience. Gary has assembled a great line-up for tonight’s performance. Gary Alesbrook - trumpet/flugelhorn, Elliott Cole - vocals, Matt Hopkins - guitar, Riaan Vosloo - bass and Ian Mathews - drums.
