See event details

A gig held at The Bristol Fringe on Tuesday 2nd December. The event starts at 20:00.

Sensational UK saxophone talent James Allsopp brings a mesmerising project to Fringe In The Round for our yuletide special. James has built a very strong reputation on the UK and international jazz scene as an innovator with a distinctive, ever thoughtful, challenging and imaginative voice on saxophones, basss clarinet and as a composer/leader over the last 25 years. It is a real treat to have him across to Bristol to showcase this band and their new material as part of their tour to launch their new album "Stars and Sand". James says about the project:

'This band, featuring some of London's most in demand musicians, is out on tour to promote their new album “Stars and Sand” which is being released with Glasgow based Vibe Collide records.

The album has been produced in collaboration with Nostalgia 77 (Ben Lamdin) and the psychedelic, dub aesthetic of the production deepens and enhances the atmosphere of the album and that's the experience we want to give the listener live!

Expect deep grooves inspired in equal parts by traditional North African music, Soul Jazz and Berlin in the 70s. This is joyous, life affirming music. Deceptively simple, deeply melodic and with a healthy dose of the other worldly.'

It is not one to miss, so book early to avoid disappointment!

Entry requirements: 14+
