A gig held at The Bristol Fringe on Tuesday 3rd May. The event starts at 20:00.

Double, double trouble! :)

It is a pleasure to welcome fabulous Bristol- based guitarist Steve Banks for a special duo, exclusive to FITR featuring the brilliant talents of Danish bass player Henrik Jensen. Steve will be no stranger to Bristol audiences; he is currently busy with many projects, and leads a high profile quintet ft. top West Country talents Sam Crockatt, Rebecca Nash, Henrik Jensen and Mark Whitlam that have a new album upcoming (watch this space!) For this special gig they will lend their very personal approaches to interpretations of the standard repertoire as well as some original compositions by them both. This will be fantastic!

We are also really excited to present two stellar recent graduates of the RWCMD Jazz course, in a beautiful duo setting that I think will really showcase and highlight their approach.

'Joshua Lascar and Michael Blanchfield met in the jazz department of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD), where they have recently graduated from. Since starting their studies at RWCMD, both musicians have become prominent members of the South Wales Jazz Scene as well as performing around the UK/internationally. Since the pandemic, Joshua Lascar has become more focused on composition and media music. For this gig, the duo will be re-interpreting original compositions by Joshua Lascar for a project named Terre De Sable. Originally performed in 2021 by a quintet, these compositions will be re-interpreted as a duo, alongside other favorites of theirs’. Some of these original compositions will feature electronics, blending Jazz with ambient music.

Two very interesting and contrasting duos to come, very much looking forward and I hope you can make it.
