James Chadwick Trio + Rebecca Nash & Sara Coleman's 'Ribbons'

Opening our Autumn/Winter season for 2022 we are super excited to present two brilliant projects from Wales and the SW. Featuring some very personal voices on the scene we firstly have the wonderful Rebecca Nash and Sara Coleman duo- ‘ribbons':

The beauty, intimacy and creativity of the duo comes to the fore in this exquisite combination of singer Sara Colman and pianist Rebecca Nash.
Their long-standing relationship has honed a musical intuition that produces the misleadingly easy sounding but musically adventurous story telling of all good singer-musician relationships.
Built on a foundation of jazz, their songs straddle singer-songwriter, folk and classical music with glimpses of early influences such as Joni Mitchell and British jazz pianist John Taylor. The Night Traveller is a dark re-imagining of the classic standard Never Will I Marry, Noble Heart, a soulful search for ancient truth and Turning Over Stones, a modern tale of being torn between two choices: knowledge or ignorance.
Ribbons:
“Here I go again in search of beauty elusive, my spirit demands this - impossible! Always lessons learned and wisdom earned, Confessions worn like ribbons”

2nd set: Guitarist James Chadwick is a mainstay of the South Wales scene, contributing energy and verve wherever he goes, which luckily for us, on this occasion is the Bristol side of the bridge (!) James brings a dynamic trio featuring two of the most in demand rhythm section players around: the mighty Danish bassist Henrik Jensen and the fantastic Mark Whitlam on the kit. This will be a treat! Expect sensitively and musically interpreted songs from the Great American Songbook and some choice originals.
