Robert Mitchell is an award-winning pianist, keyboard player, composer, songwriter, poet, and author. Over his 30 years entrenched in the art of music, Robert Mitchell has recorded fourteen albums of his own projects, 2 poetry collections and participated in over 100 projects as a sideman and has performed in more than 40 countries. Apart from being a pianist, composer and innovator, he is a festival creator and curator as well as a highly respected educator. Robert leads Little Black Book, TRUE THINK and Epiphany3. He is a professor at Guildhall School Of Music And Drama (Jazz Piano), Royal Academy Of Music (Jazz), Mentor/Task Force Member at Black Lives In Music, YMM teacher, Steinway Artist, Tempo Fund Ambassador (Merton Music Foundation). Robert has won awards – BBC Jazz Awards (Innovation, as part of the F-ire Collective), Best Jazz Album (BBC DJ Gilles Peterson Worldwide Awards), Paul Hamlyn (composition in 2020) and has been nominated for many more including 2017 British Jazz Composer Award.
For this special solo show at the Bristol Fringe, Robert will perform original music, improvisation, left hand only music, music by legends and narrate poetry. It will be quite something, and we are very excited for it! He has a new album upcoming later in 2025 from his new trio Little Black Book - on the Whirlwind Recordings label; so lots of exciting things to keep an eye out for.
