Bristol Fringe 'JAZZ TAKEOVER'

From 1936-1941 His Imperial Majesty HAILE SELASSIE was exiled to Fairfield House, Bath, England due to Mussolini's invasion of Ethiopia. Upon his return to Ethiopia a flourishing jazz scene emerged spawning such luminaries as MULATU ASTATKE, HAILU MERGIA & WALIAS BAND during the 60s & 70s.

FAIRFIELD HOUSE is now a community hub and heritage attraction dedicated to the lives of Emperor Haile Selassie and the Ethiopian Royal family in exile: www.fairfieldhousebath.co.uk
