A event held at The Bristol Fringe on Wednesday 25th March. The event starts at 20:00.
Welcome to Magick Innit, Bristol's inclusive esoteric moot
This month we are delighted to welcome Dr Cavan McLaughlin with his talk 'Beyond Belief: Studying Magic by Walking Between Worlds'
Most magical communities already have research cultures: grimoires, journals, annotated books, workshops, forums, correspondences, shared archives, lively debates, and, crucially, practices that test what texts and testimony only promise. We generate knowledge through practices, community, comparison, iteration, and deepening awareness. Cavan will share a few core ideas from my practice-based PhD in occultural studies, and discuss how we can strengthen the renewed study of magical practice inside the academy on practitioners' terms, protecting what we value: mystery, craft, and lived experience.
Join us in the back room of @thebristolfringe
Suggested donation is £5-£10 cash on the door so we can thank our speakers and keep the moot going, however we are accessible for all with Pay What You Can, nobody will be turned away due to lack of funds.
Magick Innit is a welcoming, friendly space to learn, meet others and get connected with like minded practitioners.
Past events include: talks by Marian Green and Professor Ronald Hutton, intuitive tarot workshop, 'my magical thing' occult show & tell with Julian Vayne, sigil talk and workshop with Mark Vincent, a musical Druidic celebration, and a practical hands-on workshop making portable micro altars. We are always open to suggestions!
Find us in the atmospheric back room of the Bristol Fringe now on the last Wednesday of the Month. Doors open at 7.30 for 8pm start, with a short interval and rough finish of 10pm.
