Platoon at The Croft
See event details

A gig held at The Croft on Monday 16th March. The event starts at 19:15.

Platoon are a four piece alt rock band originally based in London. After recording their early singles in Amsterdam with Remko Shouten (Pavement, Bull) and Tim Visser at Ijland Studios, they sparked interest from the likes of Abbie McCarthy at BBC introducing where they earned the title of ‘new favourite band’.

Since these releases, platoon have hosted a string of headline gigs at London venues such as the Old Blue Last and Sebright Arms. As well as sold out shows in both Bristol and Cardiff. In this time they have written and road tested a batch of new material they felt a need to capture in the form of their new EP, set for release this March. With recent singles gaining attention from DIY magazine and The Line of Best Fit. Their new work varies immensely in style, with fast paced guitar driven tracks reminiscent of Wire and The Strokes to acoustic tracks drawing more from 60’s folk, to slacker indie rock tracks reminiscent of 90’s bands such as Teenage Fanclub and Pavement. Although that sounds rather messy, Platoon feel their wide range of influences helps craft music that feels uniquely new, yet nostalgic.
