QWAK club #25

Suzan Peeters is a Brussels-based accordionist, composer and improviser. She is constantly searching for new timbres and sound textures within the accordion, pushing its acoustic spectrum to its limits by manipulating the interplay between her body and the body of her instrument. She transforms the accordion through extended techniques, objects, and live electronics.

In Oct'25, Suzan Peeters released her debut album Cassotto on the Belgian label blickwinkel. The title refers to the “cassotto” — a small resonating chamber inside the accordion that warms, softens, and deepens its tone. Listening to this record feels as if you’ve stepped into that room yourself, enveloped in a velvety world where intimacy and grandeur collide.

Following a much celebrated performance at this year's Rewire festival, Peeters is rapidly becoming recognised as one of the most promising names in Belgium’s experimental music scene. Her distinctive live shows — from leading venues across Belgium to a packed Café Oto in London — have earned her a reputation for combining accordion, electronics and unconventional objects such as a massage board into a compelling whole where contrasts come together in an unexpected way. This performance will be her first in Bristol.

Augustė Vickunaitė is a sound experimenter with a background in physics. Using vintage reel-to-reel tape recorders, she creates layered compositions from found material, field recordings, voice, instruments, objects, and the malfunctions of decaying technology.

Augustė Vickunaitė is a Brussels based sound experimenter with a background in physics. She has performed extensively across Europe and recently in Asia, touring alongside Sholto Dobie. She uses reel-to-reel tape recorders and audio tapes as her primary musical instruments, collecting and recording them to create audio collage through a fully analogue process. Layered compositions are created from found material, field recordings, voice, instruments, objects, and the malfunctions of decaying technology. Her live sets unfold with a dramaturgy reminiscent of cinema or theatre.

Augustė's set at Brighton's three day Colour Out Of Space Festival in April was a "major highlight" according to both Ilia Rogatchevski at The Wire and us who witnessed. We are ecstatic to be bringing Augustė to Bristol for the first time.

Plus k means in the bar before, between and after the live performances in the auditorium.
