"Wilfully defiant international folktronica collective Remorae drizzle their trad song structures with intricate electronic atmospheres until time’s truly out of mind. Utterly essential FFO: Thom Yorke, Lankum, downtempo Jockstrap, Julia Holter, Grouper. "

REMORAE
Enthusiastically acclaimed by Eliza Carthy, Kathryn Tickell and Sam Lee, Remorae are one of folktronica's finest exponents, exploring traditional music through experimental processes to wholly unusual and wondrous effect. Through sublime and subtle electronic, jazz and prog-rock textures they transform centuries-old folk songs into gently mesmerising, off-kilter soundscapes.
'Almost an English Lankum, gentler maybe if with no lesser intent.'

'Welcomely eclectic... a unique soundscape and feel.'
Songlines Magazine
Remorae are an interdisciplinary collective of musicians brought together by the 'Folkatron Sessions' recording project in 2017 (as extensively featured by Songlines Magazine, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 6 Music, and Folk Radio UK). Talented, free-thinking musicians, they intertwine fiddle and cello, incantatory close harmony vocals and electric guitar with live electronics. Quietly revelatory, their rich yet minimalist tapestries shift between glitching and bewitching and intimate, and raw and strange and powerful.
Their acclaimed 2024 EP 'Flourish In Green' received plays on BBC Radio 3 'Night Tracks', BBC Radio 3 'Unclassified', Radio Scotland's 'Travelling Folk', Soho Radio, BBC Radio Oxford, and BBC Radio 6 Music 'Introducing'. It is the culmination of many years of experimenting with musical forms and modes of collaboration in unique constellations of artists and represents a pivot point in the group's creative practice, centring improvisation in their live performance.
'A bold, electronic approach.'
Kathryn Tickell, BBC Radio 3 'Music Planet'
'Such a great project. The arrangement is definitely where I think folk songs don't go enough, moody synths and more experimental electronic soundworlds... a tasteful but also very progressive style.'
Sam Lee
'Pulling together different influences and music styles, they enhance and celebrate traditional song. Experimental folk at its best.'
