Prepare To Stop at The Cube
See event details

A gig held at The Cube on Saturday 30th April. The event starts at 12:00.

Music, artists and visualizations in slow motion – but still swinging. Together. Altering the influences. A huge range of people are involved. Starts mid-day until 1am - 13 hours. See below for more details on the event. Sets, installations and performances from: guest - tape hiss and ghosts. (Live + Music) Caroline Mary Williams – Caroline got sick with Long Covid, so she stayed very still and moved just her hands. Other long-haulers joined and together they made a quilt that kept them threaded together. Caroline asks for you to sit quietly and help her make a fringe of pom-poms protectors to finish the quilt. (Artist + Crafter) Stephen Jenkinson - Recording from the STILL project with Gregory Hoskins (Culture Activist, worker, author) The Black Astral - Astral Dub with modular explorations (DJ + Sonic Explorer) sleeper self – Digital streams falling through half-remembered virtual atmospheres (DJ + Zen visuals) Rosie Carr - Tapping organic impulses, crafting psychedelic visions. rosiecarr.co.uk (Fantasy Tapes + DJ) Lorenzo Prati - Minimalist movements. lorenzoprati.com (Music + Electronics) Stereocilia – Beautifully drawn out audio jamms (DJ + Looper) Esther May Campbell – Metamorphic spirit work. In this instance EMC will be washing feet with others. (Masks + Photos) Rod Maclachlan – Time refracted beams to guide the way from a BEEF artist that lives in the Forest (Light Technician + Artist) The Janitor – The apprentice has a mazzy plan - sliding pastoral guitars and devotional chants (Bell-Ringer and Records) David Hopkinson – Transmissions from another place (Imaginal + Fizzy) Creating an abundance of time and space for all kinds of experiences, perceptions and movement, Prepare To Stop is an 13 hour deep listening and light balm experience. It's a soft focus, down tempo, wrap around embrace for the mind, the body and all the holes. Drop in and tone up. The invite is to enter the ambient state, The Microplex, when you are good and ready. Then free-float among the beautiful and abstracted long-form musics, the drifting projections, the re-positioned sound system, the sweet spots, the 3 minute hourly silences and those crafting away from the adrenalised day2day. Your uncompelled to do much but slow down, get your feet washed and re-calibrate. If it's rush hour all the time, if we want everything delivered now, if where you want to go doesn't want you there, if its it all about me, me, me - here is some faulty, diminished, seasonal old Us. We are responsible for you and you for us. Prepare To Stop is a co-created event that experiments with earthly and cosmological conversations and dreamtime. Preparation for tricky and troubled times is tantamount. Lie down a while. Close the eyes. Sup a drink. Ease down the gears. Slow dance. Volunteer your senses and be prepared to stop.
