Rubie / Oh, The Guilt / Nervous Rex at The Cube
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"A Cuboid weirdo-pop triple to kiss off summer, headed up by Glaswegian theatricalist star Rubie; her rich, glitchy, queer-celebrating take on alt-power balladry will hit with fans of St Vincent, Fiona Apple, David Bowie, and Alice Low. In great company with otherworldly post-rockers Oh, The Guilt and dino-concept indie sweeties Nervous Rex."

We are truly excited to welcome Rubie for her debut at your favourite Microplex, supported by two incredible bands who represent everything we love about our local scene - Oh, The Guilt and Nervous Rex. Bringing together an evening of genre-spanning queer twitch-pop, dream-punk and dino-punk - this one's going to be special.

Do your future self a favour and make sure they see it!

Rubie is a Glasgow-based songstress, producer, and profound storyteller. Winner of End of the Road's Next Wave 2025 and fresh from opening on tour with Jasmine.4.t, Rubie's work blends high drama piano balladry, polymetric twitch-pop and transcendent plainsong, presented in an urgent and theatrical live show.

Themed around chosen family, t4t love and surviving hetero apocalypse, Rubie's second album Seek Sisters was released in late 2024, and has since drawn glowing praise from The Quietus ("Brilliantly restless"), Get in Her Ears ("Truly spellbinding") and legendary director of The Matrix Lilly Wachowski.

Oh, The Guilt are Elijah, Jules and Kit. A shoegazey dream-punk three piece. Learning and growing together. Proudly queer. Proudly trans. Proud of our community.

Nervous Rex are Bristol's all-trans dinosaur-concept DIY punk band. Bringing palaeontology to the punk show since 2019, they formed via Eat Up! collective and invented the genre of Dinopunk; learning how to play instruments and stuff came after. Expect songs about queer history, prehistory and gay feelings. FFO Spook School, Martha, Fresh and those who yearn for more dinosaur facts during gigs.
