Headlining Bristol Freestyle is Hong Kong Ping Pong, a favourite of the south-west DJ scene and a GFF co-founder – “Expect beats, breaks, glitch, bass, amens, skank, swing, wobs, brass and all that other good stuff!”.
With roots in funk, hip hop, big beat and breaks Hong Kong Ping Pong has a no holds barred attitude to their tune selection, playing a multi genre smorgasbord. They, ran their own stage at Leopallooza for years, opened the Ghetto Funk Nightclub at Shindig Festival numerous times and have become mainstays at both Shambala and The Great Estate.
Lowkonic is a new project from Plymouth’s Towlie DJ and Bristol’s Verstyle, born out of impromptu festival B2Bs and a shared love of funky and silly dance music with fire beats and bass. Expect a journey through garage, breaks, dub and jungle, with just enough filth to get your feet moving and just enough cheese to get you singing along.
With a passion for vinyl and scratching that started in childhood, IWantMyID discovered dance music in the early 90s and developed an unbridled enthusiasm for Freska and Finger Lickin' artists such as The Freestylers. With previous residencies at Lakota and Cosies in Bristol and running his own nights in North Wales since 2006, IWantMyID is well placed to deliver a turntablism masterclass at the Bristol Freestyle.
Bristolian Adey P is a multi genre party DJ like no other so you can expect everything from Funk, to Ska, to Drum & Bass, to Welsh Disco and everything in between.
Another local boy Tezuka will be getting the party started with a selection of deep funky cuts, filthy beats and mashups that will make your mum mad.
There will also be a very special afternoon B2B2B2B session open to any GFF artists and friends of the Fam, so the early doors party session is not to be missed.
The Global Funk Fam (GFF) is a collective of DJs, producers, partygoers and lovely humans all around the world, united by their love of music. Created back in 2020 to help DJs stream on Twitch and combat the dullness of Covid, 5 years on the GFF has grown into a wide-reaching network, not only supporting artists’ online streams seven days a week, but also by connecting DJ’s to real life gigs and events like Valleyfest, Boomtown and Shindig Festival.
