Visible Mending Masterclass at Bristol Folk House
Full fee: £59.00 | Over 65s: £53.10 | Benefit: £47.20

A event held at Bristol Folk House on Sunday 26th November. The event starts at 10:00.

This workshop is suitable for all levels including beginners. The day will provide an in-depth look at visible mending techniques, from basic principles to exploring a wide range of creative techniques for repairing and enhancing garments, whether it is developing confidence in a few of the fundamental stitches or, for the more confident, exploring decorative pattern making with embroidery and yarn. A great way to get you started with sustainable fashion, mending items you previously would have not kept, celebrating their imperfections and creating completely individual clothing. Techniques covered include embroidery, applique, darning, needle felting - the techniques used will be appropriate to the garments participants bring. The aim is to show what can be achieved with a range of simple and affordable hand tools accessible to anyone. (We will not be doing machine mending). Please check the material list and bring those items to the workshop.

Felt very flexible and responsive to what we wanted and needed.

Ronnie was really joyful. Lovely to stop and get absorbed in something. Very relaxing Sunday!

It was such a lovely relaxing space. Your manner and teaching style facilitated this beautifully. So inspiring. I reinvigorated 3 pairs of trousers in one afternoon!

The enthusiasm - very infectious! Also being told about the various mending methods. It's given me enough information to go and have a further look. Being shown other work also has given me inspiration.

Ronnie was so kind and patient and fun. Great teacher! Made everyone feel welcome whatever skill we had (or had not in my case). She covered many different techniques which we could use at home. I loved the whole ethos of mending garments rather than buying more and wasting things.
