Two of Bristol’s most progressive bands in the city’s ever-growing Alt Jazz & Art rock scenes - Sefrial & The Brackish come together for a night of boundary-pushing, genre-defying music to celebrate the release of Sefrial’s new self-titled album ‘Sefrial’.
Sefrial
The brain-child of rising star Sophie Stockham; her energy and lyricism on the Alto saxophone is complemented by the brilliance of Jake McMurchie on tenor, the distinctive sounds of Greg Cordez (Bass) and Joe Wilkins (Guitar), and the band’s main composer, the formidable Matt Brown (Drums). With influences as diverse as John Zorn, Medeski Martin and Wood, Tin Hat Trio and Tonbruket expect distinctive original compositions that owe as much to alt-rock and Americana as jazz.
BBC Introducing - “Sefrial are Gold, Sugar, Diamond encrusted magic”
Charley Dunlap – Listomania ‘It is not Jazz-Rock, yet it is a jazz-rock that you would never guess by other bands that have been subject to the much-abused term. Sefrial are exciting, to the mind and body both, and well worth a visit.’
The Brackish
The Brackish is an audacious assembly of guitarists Luke Cawthra (Phantom Limb) and Neil Smith (This Is The Kit), drummer Matt Jones (Zun Zun Egui) and Port Erin bassist, Jacob Tyghe. Since their 2016 album, Liquid Of Choice, the band gained a reputation for awe-inspiring live shows across the European and UK art-rock scene. Their third album 'Firm But Fair' is out on Bristol's Stolen Body label.
