A gig held at The Gallimaufry on Thursday 20th February. The event starts at 21:00.

A very special unification gig for Bristol based drummer Ollie Grant and London based saxophonist Luke Martin with their respective powerhouse bands.

Fraka

Kicking off 2025 with their sold out Soho jam session and a headline gig in East London, Fraka, are headed west to debut in Bristol, with their full 7 piece line-up bringing lush psychedelic soundscapes, irresistible horn melodies and deep hypnotic grooves to The Galli stage. Their music draws from a wide pool of influences, from afrobeat to broken beat, highlife to hip hop, all informed by an approach that leans heavily into the improvisation of jazz but kept in check by a commitment to making people move.

Fantastic Stranger

Fantastic Stranger is an explosive Sax Trio, boasting ferocious riffs and tender melodies with a hefty dose of improvisation.

Dave Colebourn (Saxophone) and Zach Bartlett (Bass) both share in Pop sensibilities, which complement the compositions of Ollie Grant (Drums). In their deepest indulgences, their emotive, intentional playing, serve up undeniably infectious performances.

Their last collaboration formed on The Galli’s stage caught the eye of Theon Cross (Sons of Kemet) and highlights of 2024 include sharing a bill with Mercury nominated Corto Alto and most recently,137, made up of minds behind Polar Bear and Bristol legends Get The Blessing and Portishead.

Free entry, music from 9pm.

Entry requirements: no age restrictions
