Inspired by Highlife, Afrobeat, Hip hop, R&B, and Classical music, Deems utilises these inspirations and pushes the sonic boundaries. Eventually he took up the piano, first playing classical, then transitioning to jazz and improvising generally. Influences include Snarky Puppy, Herbie Hancock, and Brad Mehldau.

This week, Kaleidoscope welcomes Deems and his band to perform a one-off special, paying homage to the great Kendrick Lamar.
