Fika at The Gallimaufry
See event details

A gig held at The Gallimaufry on Wednesday 29th November. The event starts at 21:00.

Fika are a groove laden 8-piece neo-soul collective, meshing together a love for harmonic movement through spoken word, rap and poetry, all performed to a backdrop of funky hooks and giddy time signatures.

The Bristol-based collective is spearheaded by primary lyricist Dave Waller. Rooted in jazz, hip hop and neo-soul, Fika eclipse the traditional jazz undercurrents by introducing a melting pot of influences and the result is ethereal. Following in the footsteps of neo-soul/hip hop pioneers like Hiatus Kaiyote and Loyle Carner, Fika’s live shows emulate the explosiveness of their contemporaries. Having performed across the UK, Fika are cementing their faces in the contemporary jazz/neo-soul scene.
