Alex Veitch Trio play Kenny Wheeler at The Greenbank Pub, Easton

A gig on Thursday 7th November. The event starts at 20:30.

Kenny Wheeler is one of the most influential and well known contemporary trumpet players and composers. His harmonic language was and still is revolutionary, and supports often beautiful, lyrical melodies as well as being a joy to improvise on.

Besides the Kenny tunes, expect a mixture of originals and jazz standards, in addition to a selection of our previous reworks of artists including The Bad Plus, EST, and Abdullah Ibrahim

Alex moved to Bristol from London about two years ago; he studied at the Guildhall School and has since secured residencies at Ronnie Scott’s and played at other venues including The Vortex, Cafe Oto, and Pizza Express Soho. He plays around Bristol at venues including The Canteen, The Gallimaufry, The Fringe and The Leftbank, and we welcome his trio here on the first Thursday of each month.

Alex is joined by Cardiff bass virtuoso Ashley John-Long, and Alex Goodyear, a brilliant drummer just graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music

With freedom and spontaneity, this will be an evening of beautiful songs and improvisations, not to be missed!

Alex Veitch - piano / Ashley John Long - double bass / Alex Goodyear - drums
