Dominie Hooper plus support from Amy May Ellis at The Louisiana
£12 plus booking fee

A gig held at The Louisiana on Saturday 28th September. The event starts at 20:00.

Dominie Hooper digs the fingers in deep and lifts that which festers up to the light. Her music bandies around seething memories and candid confessions like jokes, delivering a hug and a punch to the gut with a voice that effortlessly oscillates between light and shade.
Conjuring a heavier sound-world with bandmate mainstays Phil Self, Dave Hamblett and Twm Dylan that inches away from her folk roots, Hooper’s last single ‘Hastings’ with b-side ‘What We’ve Got’ (produced by Kate Stables/This Is The Kit) points to a fresh-if-hazy sounding body of work. Gritty textures, definite folk influences with touches of droney- doomy-shoe-gazey alt-rock.
Starting 2024 with a UK tour supporting This Is The Kit and looking forward to slots at Deer Shed, Moseley Folk Fest and The Wake (the new festival from the founders of Green Man) this Summer, it’s a year to keep tabs on Dominie Hooper. With support from Help Musicians, PRSF and spins on BBC’s 6Music, Introducing, Radio 2, Radio Scotland, RTÉ 2 and more under her belt, a growing number of eyes are eagerly watching for news on a debut album.
“That’s brilliant isn’t it... absolutely beautiful” - Shaun Keaveny
“Excellent” - Gideon Coe, BBC 6Music
