Ikonika is a producer, DJ and vocalist whose work has helped shape the sound of UK club music across bass, funky, grime-adjacent electronics, amapiano, gqom and pop-facing club sounds. Closely associated with Hyperdub, their catalogue is defined by rhythmic pressure, melodic detail and a constant refusal to sit still.

Club Djembe is a Bristol-rooted label and party series pushing percussive club music from the UK and beyond. Moving across UK funky, gqom, amapiano, Afro-club sounds and bass-heavy dance music, the label has built a reputation for high-energy releases and dancefloors with a deep sense of rhythm.

Club Djembe welcomes Ikonika back to the label with CRY-1 / Breakmeoff., a two-track release that reconnects one of the UK’s most distinctive club producers with the Bristol-rooted label and party series.

The EP marks Ikonika’s first appearance on Club Djembe since “Show Me”, their contribution to Club Djembe Vol. 3 in 2022. That release sat alongside music from Marcus Damon, Fiyahdred, Bakongo and Blck Mamba, and helped frame the label’s sound at the meeting point between UK funky, amapiano, gqom, bass pressure and drum-led club music.

Ikonika’s relationship with Club Djembe has never been limited to releases. Over the years, they have also played a key role in the label’s Bristol story, including two headline appearances for Club Djembe in the city, first at Lost Horizon alongside Roska, Noire and Vanessa Maria, and later at The Love Inn for Club Djembe Halloween with DJ Stolen and Siraya. Those nights helped cement the connection between Ikonika’s forward-thinking club language and Club Djembe’s own high-energy, percussion-heavy dancefloor identity.
