Josie Blakelock is a singer-songwriter and guitarist based in Bristol. Since releasing her debut album The Conqueror in 2023, she has gained recognition by BBC Introducing and performed at various venues across the South West including the Louisiana, the Fleece, and more. Inspired by her love of gothic novels such as Wuthering Heights and the folk music tradition, Blakelock’s songs unravel like short novels that capture the magic of storytelling through song. Melodramatic and cinematic, her music evokes the full spectrum of human emotion, taking inspiration from artists such as Lana Del Rey, Nick Cave, and Kate Bush. With gothic tracks that explore the themes of heartbreak, rage, and revenge through dramatic song, Blakelock's musical style is distinctive and hauntingly memorable.
“Cinematic sound” – BBC Introducing
