A event on Friday 17th April. The event starts at 18:00.

Show of Strength celebrates 40 years of bold, inventive theatre with Making an Exhibition of Ourselves, a free, one-weekend-only event at The PIT in Totterdown.

Part exhibition, part celebration, this special anniversary event brings together a rich collection of posters, photographs, film and memorabilia from the company’s archive, alongside live performance, music and a series of surprises capturing the spirit of Show of Strength.

For four decades, Show of Strength has been at the heart of Bristol’s theatre scene — transforming unexpected spaces and telling true, often untold stories rooted in the city’s history. From early performances at the Hen & Chicken to the creation of Tobacco Factory Theatre, and through to its renowned Theatre Walks, the company has consistently redefined how and where theatre can be experienced.

This exhibition offers a rare chance to go behind the scenes, celebrating the artists, audiences and stories that have shaped 40 years of work — and inviting new audiences to discover it.
