SILENZIO AND THE NIGHT ~
What can we say about Bristol's finest, Silenzio? Time and genre crossing, or simply ‘Inter-generational’? A whirlwind of Bartókian nightmares that sway, swoon and croon the audience through dreamstates, then finally conjuring the silence of the night?
Or perhaps we should leave it up to film director and music professor, Timo Hiljaisus, who states;
'There are 6 people in Silenzio and the night, with a collective playing age of 176 years, but I hear you say; "so what, who cares about this thing?" My reply would be that it signifies a lot of experience and love of playing; in Burlesque bands, Spaceways, The Experimental Pop Band, Gus Bus, Modesty Blaise, Joyce the Librarian, Electrelane, The Voller Quartet and various film score orchestras. To my perceptions, they conjure up themes for a romantic heist movie road trip from Tangiers to Stockholm, seductively and harmonically pulling you into their world of Szabo~Lynch~Sonic Youth~Hawley~Pop tones, using percussion, full spectrum strings and voice.'

PILOTS ~
Pilots formed in 2016, initially with Joe Rooney and Phil Wilmott (formerly of Bristol's alternative indie The Experimental Pop Band) joining up with Mark Pope on keyboards. Prolific with ideas and influences from far and wide (alternative indie/grunge/shoegaze/alt-folk), they put together a set of tracks, some as songs, others instrumental with beats and keyboards. The band has recently started to play live with Bristol songwriter, Houdie, whose softly sung, calm vocals bring a contrast to her grungey guitar and add an interesting layer to Pilots' songs. The band are completed with the legendary Keith Bailey (from Spaceways, EPB and Silenzio) on drums.
