Makaani Arts is a new collective aiming to champion and showcase music and cultural craft from the Southwest Asian and North African diaspora, spanning from Morocco to Pakistan.
Otherwise known as the SWANA region.
Makaani means 'my place' in Arabic. Or, ‘I belong here’.
They are inviting performers and practitioners with shared regional heritage to celebrate their art. Bridging cultures in a day of family-friendly community joy.
Expect dance workshops, live music, film, food and DJs.

Chalguh Chengi (Song & Dance workshops)
Meaning the spirit of live music and dance in Turkish, is a collective of artists who celebrate the deep-rooted folk music and dance of Anatolia and the Mediterranean. Showcasing the inherent diversity and fluidity of the region, this group brings live performance and fun, interactive family workshops.
Chalguh Chengi create a participatory experience, teaching songs— including their melodies and words — for everyone to join in.
Vilk Collective (Live music & Film)
Vilk Collective at its core, is creative duo Roxana Vilk ( Iranian/UK) and Peter Vilk (Czech/Slovak), both musicians and award winning filmmakers.
They will be performing live & screening 2 short films centred around the Iranian experience.
