A
gig
held at The Trinity Centre
on Sunday 30th April. The event starts at 19:30.
Global shanty superstars The Longest Johns return to Bristol for a spectacular homecoming gig with hand-picked special guests, Calan.
The Longest Johns have been singing shanties & folk songs together for years. It wouldn’t be the obvious path to stardom for most bands but something about the stories, captivating harmonies & exuberant live show has made them a ‘must-see act’.
In a few short years, they have gone from singing sea shanties in a kitchen to signing with Decca records, major festivals, tours, TV appearances & gained a massive online following.
As the face of the sea shanty revival with ‘Wellerman‘, the Johns are reaching millions of new fans all across the globe. Get ready to raise the roof of Trinity with powerful harmonies, and rollicking tunes from latest album ‘Smoke and Oakum’.
Joining the Johns for this special concert are the exceptional Calan. Voted Wales’ Best Band, this folk supergroup bring infectious rhythms & high voltage routines. Expect fiddles, accordions, guitars, soaring harmonies & a performance full of raw excitement.
“A storming juggernaut of cool-Cymru-with-attitude power-folk with a jaw-dropping repertoire” - Folk Wales
