A gig held at Thekla on Tuesday 30th October. The event starts at 19:00.

Goat Girl

South London's Goat Girl combine incisive social commentary with a snarling mix of punk, country and goth. Taking their name from the late comedian Bill Hicks' contentious sketch "Goat Boy," vocalist/guitarist Clottie Cream (Lottie), bassist/vocalist Naima Jelly (Naima), guitarist/vocalist L.E.D. (Ellie), and drummer Rosy Bones (Rosy) met at various concert venues and formed the band in 2016. Citing Metronomy and Sonic Youth among their influences, the group emerged at a time when South London areas Brixton and Peckham were a fertile ground for D.I.Y. bands like HMLTD, Sorry, and Shame. Goat Girl played regular gigs at Brixton venue The Windmill and released their debut split single, "Country Sleaze/"Scum," in 2016 via British independent label Rough Trade. The following year they opened the Visions Festival in London and put out a second single, "Crow Cries." That Halloween, Goat Girl released "Cracker Droll," which was accompanied by a fittingly spooky promo video. Early in 2018, they issued the single "The Man," the first taste of their self-titled debut full-length. Produced by Dan Carey (Kate Tempest, Bat for Lashes), Goat Girl arrived in March 2018.
