A
event
on Wednesday 13th May. The event starts at 16:00.
This event is part of Good Grief Bristol, A Festival of Love and Loss. 11-17 May 2020 (https://goodgriefbristol.com/).
This session covers two topics.
1) The Formation and Legacy of Bereavement Groups in the UK, with Dr John Troyer
The first part of this session concerns the creation and legacy of grief and bereavement groups in the UK. Dr John Troyer will discuss the formation of such support groups in the 1970s and 1980s and explores what this can tell us about these same groups today.
2) Life's Fragility: Encounters with Loss, with Dr Samir Gugliani
We also welcome doctor and writer, Dr Samir Guglani. Life is fragile, filled with loss, and grief is our continuous landscape. How is this encountered in the shared spaces of illness and medicine, and how might it shape a responsibility to care?Join Dr Gugliani for this exploration of medicine and literature, and the centrality of imagination to both. The talk will draw on his experiences as a writer and consultant oncologist, and he'll take questions and hope for discussion from the floor.
