Distraxi, enys mottet, Storm Neech, Spell Press, tskali at Exchange
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Newcomer enys mottet is a big tip for fans of gothic-noir sound collages and experimental rap, à la Rainy Miller or Blackhaine. They play a collaborative set as part of this stellar line-up of borderless sonic dissent alongside local harsh noise queen Distraxi and AV sax-fuelled spectral industrial from Storm Neech."

A gig held at Exchange on Sunday 8th February. The event starts at 19:30.

New experimental music series 'Terror Management' make their Bristol debut in the Exchange basement, coming fresh off the back of their January outing with 'Elvin Brandhi' and 'Rachel Musson', they bring to the basement a stacked line-up of local, experimental and AV performances. Including Bristol, noise stalwart, 'Distraxi', whose visceral and abrasive magics will bring a close to the night following a flurry of newcomers, including: The Tech-noir and autotune melancholy of 'enys mottet'. Expanding on a debut run of shows in 2025, they venture on from the solo outpouring of 'This Is New York ?', confiding in collaboration with Brighton-based guitarist 'Oscar Woolley' and Bristol-based vocalist 'dubkiko', with a study into all things excavation. Prior to this, we are met with the breathtaking power ambience of wonderkid 'Storm Neech'. Taking you on an AV journey of saxophone, wizard sound design and modular refractions. After recent link-ups with 'Lux Cache' and compliments from 'Autechre', it is only a matter of time before his sound pulsates through speakers all around the globe. Opening up the night is 'Spell Press', 1 third of the now-defunct 'Grandchild'. Following on from a debut outing at 'The Croft', supporting for 'Dis Fig', he brings with him an intricate display of live midi drum triggering, vocals and a diversity of electronic capabilities. Not to be missed. Last but not least, during doors and in-between acts, we have 'Realist Alive' head honcho 'tskali'. After a stellar 'Simple Things' display with 'PTS', supporting for 'Joker' and 'aya' at 'Bristol Beacon', he returns to the grassroots. A genre-breaking and expert selector of all things shifting. Please note the basement is not wheelchair accessible and is accessed by a narrow enclosed staircase. For more accessibility info, please email [email protected]
