KEVIN FIGES returns to Fringe Jazz with his wonderful 'STANDARDS QUARTET'. A band dedicated to the exploration of the great 'jazz standard' - those truly memorable compositions, famous popular songs and Broadway show tunes that jazz musicians have used as inspiration for improvisation through every period in the development of the music we call jazz.
The band features two of Kevin's long-time collaborators the brilliant bassist Riaan Vosloo and the excellent Mark Whitlam on drums plus the extaordinary keyboard wizard Dan Moore. Expect an evening of beautiful tunes with a good helping of inspired reinvention, deconstructed harmonies and subtly tweaked melodies.
