MOVING STORIES

Find the story within you that seeks expression, now!

A six week course facilitated by Deborah with seven years' experience guiding participants to create theatre and storytelling work with a focus on the personal journey.

Come explore techniques in improv, physical theatre, narrative build & freeing your voice. As well as: mindful listening, breath work & movement practises.

This 6 week course brings together performance & personal development approaches to provide fertile soil for: imaginative & meaningful stories - whether ancient myth or a story we ourselves have written.

WE'LL EXPLORE:

Moving the textures of elements - fire, water, air, earth

Embodiment of character - moving in and out of character when storytelling

Storyteller's voice and your voice - the subtleties of the voice: tone, emotion & colour

The dramatic build of a story - structuring an arc of experience for your audiences

What the story touches in you - understanding your relationship to characters and narrative

BRING:

A story - you have written or a classic fairytale, myth, folktale or legend.

Bring a yoga matt for the warm up - or let me know if you don't have one.

FOR:

Those new to storytelling and those with experience in theatre and storytelling alike.

This will be unique journey guided by Deborah - in response to the needs of the group.

She will tailor feedback as well as lead group exercises and offer participants space to explore.

WHEN:

Every Thursday from 7pm- 8:30pm at The Jam Jar.

THE FACILITATOR:

Deborah has a deep passion for working with people, to connect them with their imaginations' and bodies'. She is a theatre maker, stroyteller and facilitator.

She has been facilitiating workshops in stroytelling, authentic public speaking, mask work, clown and physical theatre for 6 years.

She has directed and performed in shows and storytelling performances from London to South Korea including at The Wardrobe, The Cube & Circomedia (to name Bristol venues).
