Art is Freedom Workshop at Lost Horizon
See event details

A event held at Lost Horizon on Saturday 23rd October. The event starts at 12:00.

A creative drawing workshop, for anyone who wants to live a more creative life, have fun, make a mess and express their birthright of uninhibited creativity.

The Lost Horizon bar will be open 12-5pm, and and we’ll be showcasing a selection of Bristol creatives with our mini market; pick up unique handmade items & prints from local artists.

***
Using methods to free the mind, and getting into your body, Euan’s workshop will cover fun and simple exploratory techniques such as drawing to music, using your wrong hand, mark making with unusual objects and the use of drawing machines.

This experience will be in small groups, allowing us all to talk and create openly and freely, not worrying about a final outcome; it’s more about enjoying the process and learning small ways to bring creativity into your daily life. Euan will also chat about his own experience finding art in his mid twenties, and how painting every day turned into a career.

What to bring
An object sacred to you, the weirder and more wonderful the better. All collective items will form an alternative drawing from still life, much more interesting than a fruit bowl!
Anything that can make a mark - think outside of the box on this one - charcoal from a fire, anything you can recontextualise into an artistic material.
Bio
"I want my pictures to be visual mantras for the viewer. Lifting them up, dusting them down and telling them to keep going."

Euan Roberts is a Hastings-based artist whose work focuses on imparting a feeling of optimism, hope or joy onto the viewer. His art is often upbeat in terms of colour and composition but can carry equally unsettling messages. He is a regular in-field artist at Shangri-La, Glastonbury.
