Worm Disco Club and La Bomba present:

A night of heavyweight brass, percussion and poly-dance sounds:

Featuring the incredible 15 piece ensemble

BALIMAYA PROJECT.

Lead by Djembe player Yahael Camara Onono, this mega group are one of the most exciting new acts to emerge from London of late. Bridging the Diasporic divide, this troupe of 15 players gather together a combination of jazz players, Mandé master musicians (including Kora master Jali Bakery Konteh) and a Nigerian talking drum section. Balimaya create a big wall of poly-rythmic grooves, intertwining detail, modern jazz motifs (see Ezra Collective) and pure mass energy! This group are a truly unique proposition as far as the UK goes. Their album ‘Wolo So’ that came out on the ever prescient Jazz Re:freshed in July has been on constant rotation, and this collective are getting increasingly seen and heard in all the right places, and are set to wow ever more bigger audiences next year with their wonderfully rich Africa meets London tapestry of sound. We are VERY excited to have them inside Lost Horizon, and yes, we are making the stage bigger for them!

Dundundun

The sound of the drum! Bristol through and through, DDD have got their own thing going on. Baritone Sax run through FX, drums, bass, percussion, keys. Tons of mad grooves, sqiuggly synth noises and rave influences tie together the raucous moments with the more serene ones, that lull you into a floaty space, only to be jolted back into mad body-moves with big sax solos and big collective breakdowns. Gilles Peterson got rather excited over these guys live on 6 Music earlier this year.. you should too!
