See event details

A gig held at Mr Wolfs on Friday 24th March. The event starts at 21:00.

FIKA
Fika are a groove laden 8-piece neo-soul collective, meshing together a love for harmonic movement through spoken word, rap and poetry, all performed to a backdrop of funky hooks and giddy time signatures. Inspired by the vibrant jazz scenes in Leeds and London, Fika yearns to create a sound that is evocative and guided by self expression. After spreading themselves all across the UK and extracting influences from every corner, Fika returned richer than ever in sound and in vitality.

The Bristol-based collective is spearheaded by primary lyricist Dave Waller. Rooted in jazz, hip hop and neo-soul, Fika eclipse the traditional jazz undercurrents by introducing a melting pot of influences and the result is ethereal. Following in the footsteps of neo-soul/hip hop pioneers like Hiatus Kaiyote and Loyle Carner, Fika establish live shows that mimic the explosiveness of their contemporaries. Having performed across the UK, including The Gallimaufry, The Louisiana, The Crofters Rights, Mr. Wolfs and beyond, Fika are cementing their faces in the contemporary jazz/neo-soul scene.

LUNA LIQUER
"Bedroom Pop meets Funky Soul. Luna Liqueur's music is an idiosyncratic combination of a huge pop voice with funk and soul influenced instrumentation. The introspective lyricism and dreamy composition enables listeners to dance and scream along to a heartfelt melody about relationship complications they might've never experienced. Rising self-assured pop artist like 'Sigrid' and 'Dylan' fused with the musical creativity of 'Alicia Keys' and 'Griff'."
