BEEF Winter School Workshop #6
SHAPE : 16mm found footage editing with Vicky Smith & Niyaz Saghari
Saturday 25th January : 11-5pm

Niyaz Saghari and Vicky Smith will run a 16mm found footage editing workshop. We will consider certain histories, theories and current practices of found footage film practice and examine sources such as the archive, official and home movies. Learn how to use film joining technology (a splicer) and flat- bed editing (a steenbeck) and the Pic Synch. Different types of editing styles (metric, montage, jump cut, (dis) continuity) will then be applied hands on to either found footage and/or to participants own films.

Niyaz Saghari is an Iranian born, Bristol based filmmaker. Graduating from Film Directing from Art University of Tehran, she continued her studies on the MA Animation at Newport. Besides following professional work in animation, she has been directing short documentaries and making experimental films and is editor of Film Farsi s. Her work focuses on urban life in her home towns of Tehran and Bristol.

Materials and tea and coffee will be provided for all Workshops.
