PITSTOP:
Pitstop is a volunteering project, set up in 2011 by University of Bristol students, which organises day and weekend trips for young people with disabilities throughout the academic year, aiming for 5-6 trips in total. We visit a range of attractions in and around Bristol, providing a fun day out for our members whilst allowing their parents respite from their care. Examples of places we’re gone to include Legoland, Drayton Manor, the Aquarium, Noah’s Ark Farm, and Avon Valley Country Park to name a few!
Get involved!
All transport and food is paid for by Pitstop, so the day will be completely free for all attending. Average trips have around 15 young people, and 15 volunteers, meaning every young person can buddy up with a student to enjoy the day together. The Pitstop committee who organise and run each trip will be on hand to make sure everyone knows what they’re up to, where to be, and are a point of contact throughout the day to help with any questions.
Each event is made as a separate Facebook event when the timings are all confirmed. If you know someone that would benefit from coming along on these trips, or if you’d like to come as a volunteer, email [email protected].
