Paul Purgas (emptyset) presents new research on radical sound and media practices native to South Asia, including listening session and discourse.

Mohamed Chourcair & Steve Goodman present UAI instrument, discussions & performance
Lebanese sound artist Mohamed Choucair showcasing the music of the UAI – an instrument he made by transforming the incessant buzz of the Israeli UAV. The demonstration will give way to a discussion between Mohamed and Steve Goodman (Kode 9) on the ways in which sound can equate to a weapon, followed by an an audio-visual presentation.

Preemptive Listening screening & Q&A w/ director Aura Satz
‘Preemptive Listening’ is a work of non-fiction cinema which re-imagines sirens in order to forge a new understanding of present and long term emergency. Through a soundtrack of new siren sounds composed by an array of experimental musicians, the film asks questions such as: Does an alarm have to be alarming? The screening of Preemptive Listening will be followed by a Q&A with director Aura Satz.
