Scratch' is the new collaboration of four Bristol-based musicians who between them have a bio including The Soul Strutters, The Brand New Heavies, The Abstract Orchestra, The Real Live Show NYC, Temple Kings, The Jazz Defenders, Soul Understated, Lettuce and many more. Digging into the crates of classic soul and funk via the portals of rap, 'Scratch' creates new forms from a selection of timeless beats and breaks, using them as a platform for fresh improvisations and as routes back to source.
Ideally equipped to front the band is journeyman Soul Strutter vocalist / bassist Eric Mylod-Okafo, who is joined by ex-NYC funkateer guitarist Dan Waldman, firebrand keyboardist George Cooper and one of the UK's top drummers, recent arrival to Bristol, Mr Jimmy Norden. Expect hard beats, soulful sounds and a night to remember.
