Alex Veitch Trio play Bill Evans at The Greenbank Pub, Easton

A gig on Thursday 5th December. The event starts at 20:30.

Bill Evans is one of my all time favourite piano players, and I'm looking forward to playing some of his compositions at The Greenbank this week. Famous for his work in the trio format, he pioneered an attitude of interplay and equality of the instruments, the legacy of which can still be felt in a lot of trio music made today

Besides the Kenny tunes, expect a mixture of originals and jazz standards, in addition to a selection of our previous reworks of artists including The Bad Plus, EST, and Abdullah Ibrahim

Alex is joined by Cardiff bass virtuoso Ashley John-Long, and Alex Goodyear, a brilliant drummer just graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music

With freedom and spontaneity, this will be an evening of beautiful songs and improvisations, not to be missed!

Alex Veitch - piano // Ashley John Long - double bass // Alex Goodyear - drums

Music from 9pm // Free Entry

Alex moved to Bristol from London about two years ago; he studied at the Guildhall School and has since secured residencies at Ronnie Scott’s and played at other venues including The Vortex, Cafe Oto, and Pizza Express Soho. He plays around Bristol at venues including The Canteen, The Gallimaufry, The Fringe and The Leftbank, and we welcome his trio here on the first Thursday of each month.
