A Lesser Version at The Louisiana
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Liverpudlians A Lesser Version pilot this month’s edition of Cellar Door, their sharp, emo-fied wall-of-sound shoegaze coming in hot after a Green Man Rising tipping at last year’s fest. Catch ‘em in cahoots with Studio 20’s rising avant-rock, uncanny post-folkers Foot Foot, Norman D Loco’s cavernous slowcore, and the usual glut of basement-dwelling visual artistry."

A gig held at The Louisiana on Thursday 23rd April. The event starts at 19:00.

A Lesser Version

Described by The Quietus as ‘purveyors of fractured and emotive DIY indie rock’, a Lesser Version crafts songs that are heartfelt and homemade whilst existing in a post-internet, post-genre universe that they have created for themselves, stretching from shoegaze to folk via emo and electronica.

Alumni of 2025’s Green Man Rising, they were shortlisted from over 4000 acts and performed at the festival in August alongside Wing!, lots of hands, Sarah Meth, and Shale.

Their music has been supported by the likes of TheNeedleDrop and BBC 6Music, and their latest album, ‘0.2 Flesh Etc’, is another commitment to DIY music and the album as the prevailing format for which to present their work.

Self-recorded and self-produced, it was engineered alongside Ollie Roper (Gladness, Trout, Mewn), mixed by Yuri Shibuichi (Honeyglaze, Tapir!, Mary in the Junkyard), and mastered by Jack Wait (Hank Bee).

Studio 20
studio20's unwillingness to be categorised makes for an expansive sound, blurring alt-pop hooks and emo’s raw nerve endings with electronics, leaving a sticky, sonic residue.

Norman D. Loco
Norman D. Loco is a shoegaze/'guitar music' project with internet archive and digital media influences. Drawing melodic inspiration from late 90's alternative bands like 'swirlies' and 'sweet trip' whilst sonically utilising IDM and Vapourwave production elements to degenerate their music. Norman is a four piece, based and formed in London, United Kingdom.

foot foot

foot foot have established themselves as one of the leading acts of Bristol’s underground, drawing on the traditions of folk, math-rock, & discordant post-rock to produce their intricate brand of songcraft, creating moments of serenity & stillness before launching into fast, jagged rhythms. Their use of contrasts -indie-flecked songwriting with irregular, winding passages, or rich violin & vocal melodies with avante--jazz freakouts - have markedthem out as one of the scene's most innovative & impactful live acts.
