Counting Blessings at To The Moon

A clubnight held at To The Moon on Friday 19th July. The event starts at 20:00.

Warm friendly vibes & a welcoming dancefloor at the Counting Blessings party.

Katie Novo & Friends will be spinning Latin and Jazz infused House, Broken Beat, Funk, Afrobeat old and new & more.

The night kicks off with a House dance class 8-9pm courtesy of the wonderful Issie Lloyd of Funk Supreme. The class will be open to all levels. If you're not familiar with House Dance, take a look at a couple of the videos linked in this listing to get an idea of what its all about: you can also keep an eye on our updates on instagram at @counting_blessings_bristol

From 9-12 we have Counting Blessings resident Katie Novo joined by one of Bristol's finest selectors - Queen Of Pressure, bringing her trademark mix of dancefloor-friendly reggae, roots and rocksteady. I have been lucky enough to see QoP play a whole bunch of times, and can tell you for certain that she has the rhythms to make you move your feet (and the rest of you besides).

Notes on your hosts:

Dance Teacher: ISSIE LLOYD has worked as a professional dance practitioner specialising in street dance styles for 20 years, training in and delivering dance in the UK, Brazil, Ethiopia, West Coast USA and Europe.

Issie is co-founder of Funk Supreme, a community dance company delivering classes, social events and performances in the South West and Wales, covering styles including House, Dancehall, Hip Hop and Afrobeats. She brings a wealth of experience running interactive events that create connection through music and dance - it feels pretty special to have her.

DJs:

QUEEN OF PRESSURE has been collecting and selecting vinyl since her teens and plays an eclectic mix of roots, rocksteady, steppas, dancehall and digi dub; Enthusiast of all things colourful, Queen of Pressure packs a full bag of reggae niceness. Expect a warm and vibrant selection of soul-heavy dubwise heaven.

QoP has been a regular at Glastonbury on the Nomad Stage and Platform 23 in Shangri-La and the Tangled Roots at Boomtown. She hosts a resident night at Bristol’s iconic music haven The Plough and regularly guests at Cosies, The Star and Garter, Lost Horizon and The Jam Jar where she has supported acts like Holly Cook and Omega Nebula. Catch her this year at the last ever Shindig, Glastonbury and Fire in the Mountain to name but a few.

KATIE NOVO has been collecting music & DJing for 25 years. She holds down radio residencies on Bristol's premier underground station Noods Radio and Brighton's 1BTN, and founded Counting Blessings to create a happy, welcoming space to let go & enjoy some sweet musical movement.
