A
gig
held at The Gallimaufry
on Wednesday 14th September. The event starts at 21:00.
Will Scott-Hartley (F&D, Snazzback), Chris Langton (F&D, Snazzback, Zoobers), STANLÆY, and t l k converge in improvisation to form something otherworldly, glitch-oriented, ambiguously metered, and undisputedly heavy. Expect pedals, pedals, pedals.
Utilising all available limbs, Funk & Disorderly test the limits of a duo to create rhythmic sprawling textures, exploring the spaces in between jazz, hip-hop, future garage and ambient.
t l k stretches the thin fabric of selfhood, residing between ethereal and mundane realities. Fluid in genre and form, and emphasising improvisation as a necessity for psychological processing, the t l k sound is permeating the Bristol scene, with debut EP 'Strength In Tenderness' solidifying her as 'one of the city's most exciting experimental artists' (BBC Introducing).
Since their live debut (Aug 2021), t l k has played many of Bristol’s core venues, including Trinity Centre, Thekla and The Louisiana; secured a monthly residency at renowned melting pot The Gallimaufry; supported the likes of Anchorsong (Tru Thoughts), Tusks (One Little Independent) and Waldo’s Gift (Black Acre) and played shows and festivals across the country (London, Jazz Stroud, Sage Gateshead, We Out Here and more).
STANLÆY is the brain child and alter-ego of musician, producer, artist, and composer Bethany Clare Mistlebrook Stenning where Bethany composes music both as a solo artist, and collaborating with other musicians / a live band to bring the music to a live environment. Fuelled by collaboration, landscapes (internal and external), cross-pollination and the synergy between the organic and the synthetic, Bethany is an unstoppable force of nature of multi-disciplinary form.
