held at The Trinity Centre
on Sunday 3rd April. The event starts at 11:00.
Ignited by a police raid on the popular Black & White Café on Grosvenor Road, the St Paul’s Uprising sparked a wave of inner unrest that persisted throughout the 1980s.
Community activist Simba Tongogara draws on personal experience to describe the events that led to the 1980 St Pauls Uprising, the subsequent campaign to ensure those charged were legally represented and that the voice of the Black community was heard. Simba also gives a searing assessment of the gentrification of St Pauls.
